Creative Art from Nature

Free your creative side by reawaking and deepening your innate connection to the natural world. This course will guide the participant in creating art from items found in nature. This could be anything from abstract to realistic as you are only limited by your imagination. We will explore concepts of composition, patterns and shapes, light and form, elements of color and more. We will also get tips on tuning into nature and how to be an active participant in nature not just another observer. Instructor: James Stilwell

Wall Accents: Paper Flower 1

Wall Accents: Paper Flower is a course for students interested in making wall decor inspired by flora using decorative paper! The course will introduce how to create a giant paper flower with beautiful colors and patterns. The course includes a beginner friendly step-by-step process guided by an instructor, in which a student will learn how to cut and assemble a large 10-inch flower completely out of paper!

**Students are Responsible for purchasing and bringing a hot glue gun and very good scissors. Some paper will be provided for the first class. Students are free to bring their own paper and pattern of their choosing for the second class.**

Backyard Bee Keeping

Backyard Bee Keeping

Backyard Beekeeping is a fun, but intensive 12-week course designed for those individuals who are seriously interested in maintaining a honeybee apiary. Prior knowledge about honeybees is not required! Subjects covered will include the science of apiculture, types of honeybees, purchasing bees, equipment, protective clothing, and the importance of honeybees to the environment. In addition, students will receive practical experience with setting up beehives, managing an apiary, and controlling hive pests or diseases. Students will inspect and document hive inspections, analyze honey, estimate hive populations, and winterize hives. Students need to purchase their textbook and bring it to the first session. A good source is on Amazon. Any version is acceptable, eBook, Paperback, or Spiral bound.  Instructor: David Zachary

Fly Tying 101

Fly Tying 101

This class will prepare the student with hands on experience and an overall understanding of the world of Fly Tying. There is no greater exhilarating experience than catching a beautiful trout on a fly that you tied yourself. As a part of your tuition you will be provided with fly tying kit that you will keep to enjoy a lifetime of satisfaction in the fun fly tying community. You will learn to tie from basic flies to some of the most beautiful flies that will all produce wonderful years of trout fishing. The book we will use is written by Skip Morris titled “FLY TYING MADE CLEAR AND SIMPLE”. The book will be provided by HCC which will have to be returned at the end of the class but you will be encouraged to secure your own copy for future reference. Each class will include a discussion of why we use the fly we are tying and history of the name of the fly. Instructor: Tommy Thomas

This class will help the student determine the Homeopathic remedy needed in an emergency, trauma, or illness while waiting for the First Responders or on the way to the Veterinarian.  A complete understanding of homeopathy will be given to help the student understand what they are doing and why.  This information helps to be more effective when needed.  First Aid remedies act quickly to calm the situation.  Instructor: Sharon Nirado Sloan

Join HCC in making Halloween themed paper flowers for your wall decor this dark and mysterious holiday! We will be making black, orange, and Halloween print paper flowers.
